CryoPen is a targeted cryotherapy treatment that uses controlled freezing to remove suitable benign lesions. The treatment is quick, precise and designed to focus on the area being treated.

It is important to be clear that lesion removal is not the same as diagnosis. Kirsty will assess whether a lesion appears suitable for treatment at The Yvette Clinic, but anything changing, bleeding, painful, irregular, crusting or otherwise concerning should be checked by your GP before any cosmetic removal is considered.

How It Works

CryoPen works by delivering a precise jet of nitrous oxide to the lesion. This rapidly freezes the targeted tissue, causing the lesion to break down.

Following treatment, the area goes through a healing process. Depending on the lesion type, it may darken, scab, shrink, flatten or gradually come away as the skin repairs.

The number of treatments needed can vary depending on the type, size, depth and location of the lesion. Kirsty will assess the area and explain what may be realistic before treatment begins.

Treatment Time

CryoPen treatment is usually very quick, although your appointment will also include consultation, assessment and aftercare guidance.

After treatment, the lesion may change colour, form a scab, reduce in size or gradually come away as the skin heals. The treated area will continue to settle over time.

Downtime

Downtime is usually minimal, but the treated area will need time to heal.

You may experience temporary redness, tenderness, swelling, blistering, scabbing or darkening of the treated area. This is part of the normal healing process for many cryotherapy treatments.

It is important to allow the area to heal naturally and avoid picking or disturbing the skin.

Aftercare A f t e r c a r e

Aftercare is important following CryoPen Lesion Removal.

Kirsty will give you clear advice on how to care for the treated area. In general, you should keep the area clean, avoid picking or scratching, and allow any scab or blister to heal naturally.

You may be advised to avoid unnecessary friction, heat, swimming, sun exposure and active skincare products on the treated area while the skin is settling.

Daily SPF is particularly important where the treated area is exposed to daylight, as healing skin can be more sensitive to pigmentation changes.

If the area becomes increasingly painful, inflamed, weepy or does not heal as expected, you should contact the clinic or seek appropriate medical advice.

Is This Treatment Right For Me?

CryoPen Lesion Removal may be suitable if you have a small benign lesion such as a skin tag, wart, verruca, cherry angioma or milia spot that you would like removed.

It may not be suitable for all lesions or all areas of the body. Kirsty will assess the area and advise whether treatment at The Yvette Clinic is appropriate.

You should not book cosmetic lesion removal for anything that is changing, bleeding, painful, itchy, irregular, inflamed, crusting or otherwise unusual. These should be checked by your GP first.

Moles will only be considered for treatment where they have already been checked and cleared by your GP.
